So you have a web site. How are you going to get people to find it and market the site so you can tap in on this Internet Marketing Bonanza?
It is pretty hard isn't it. You put up a site and expect that like a better mouse trap they will come. But they don't, at least not many. So you advertise your sites address on your business cards, magazine and newspaper ads and your billboards and all your conventional advertising methods.
Hey wait...... wasn't the Internet Site the new marketing tool that was going to allow you to spend less on advertising. All you are doing is spending more adding your website to your product mix advertising. The only people who are seeing the site are the customers we already have. Where are these millions of new people who were just waiting for our site so they could flock in? What the heck is going on?
So how do you promote your website without breaking your bank? There are some steps that will help. I am going to make this short so if you don't understand something please email me. I will help as much as possible.
Starter Steps
- Determine your Primary Key Phrases
- Find out the phrases that are Related to your Primary Phrases
- Optimize the pages of your site using these phrases.
- Using your word Processor write a page Title and Description for each phrase and related phrase.
- Pre define or change your page names that are similar to that phrase. IE: Used Car Listings might be used_cars.html
- Copy the new or modified pages into your site.
- Create site maps of your site in html, txt, xml and rss at the least.
- Test your site and make sure everythng works.
- Next copy all your page names, descriptions and titles and keeping the old ones seperate. Put links to other pages inside the descriptions using key phrases as the link text. This is what we call deep links. We will use these whenever we set up links for the site.
- Open a webring.org account just to get some back links. Place their code on your site and join a few rings. Don't make the mistake of choosing the ring with the most sites, join the ones with the most hits listed.
- Go to eBay and purchase a couple links. Type in Descriptive Text Links and you will see tons of them. Don't spend more then a hundred bucks when you are getting started unless you know what you are doing.
- Join a couple link exchanges like Link Metro and Link Market. Don't go with the paid versions until you are happy with the results. Trade some links.
- Wait 2 weeks - I know... it's hard to wait.
- Go to Google and type in Back Link Checker and go to some of the checkers and see where your back links are coming from.
- When you see where your links are coming from do more of the most productive. Keep at it almost on a daily basis.
If you follow the steps above I can't say that you will be in the top 10 of a Google search but you will be ahead of 90% of your competitors.
